Endometriosis care for
pain that's real.

If your periods have been brushed off as just bad cramps for years, you're not imagining it. Dr. Megan Luciano takes endometriosis seriously, with the time to investigate, diagnose, and build a real plan.

Understanding
endometriosis.

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, often on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and other areas of the pelvis. Each month that tissue responds to your hormones the way the uterine lining does, but it has no way to leave the body, which leads to inflammation, pain, and over time, scar tissue.

The hallmark is pain: painful periods, pain during sex, and chronic pelvic pain that can range from nagging to debilitating. It's also a common and under-recognized cause of heavy or irregular bleeding and difficulty getting pregnant. On average, women wait years for a diagnosis, often after being told their symptoms are normal.

You deserve better than that. Endometriosis is manageable, and the earlier it's addressed, the more options you have. Dr. Luciano's approach starts with actually listening to your experience, then pairing it with a careful evaluation.

Symptoms we
take seriously.

Endometriosis looks different in everyone, and pain levels don't always match the severity. These are the signs Dr. Luciano evaluates as a complete picture.

How Dr. Luciano
approaches it.

There's no single path for endometriosis. Care starts with understanding your pain and your goals, then choosing the approach that fits.

01
Listen and evaluate
A thorough history, exam, and imaging when appropriate, to understand your pain and rule out other causes. Your experience is taken seriously from the first visit.
02
A treatment plan that fits
Options range from pain and hormonal management to referral for minimally invasive surgical evaluation when that's the right step, matched to your symptoms and whether fertility is a priority.
03
Long-term support
Endometriosis is a chronic condition, and Dr. Luciano stays with you, adjusting your plan over time and coordinating specialist care when needed.

Common
questions.

What are the symptoms of endometriosis?+
The most common symptom is pain: painful periods, chronic pelvic pain, and pain during or after sex. Many women also have heavy or irregular bleeding, bloating, fatigue, pain with bowel movements or urination during their period, and difficulty getting pregnant. Symptoms vary widely and don't always reflect how much endometriosis is present.
How is endometriosis diagnosed?+
Diagnosis begins with a careful history and exam, often with a pelvic ultrasound. Endometriosis can't always be confirmed by imaging alone, and the only definitive diagnosis is through minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy). Dr. Luciano will talk you through whether and when that step makes sense for you.
Can endometriosis be treated without surgery?+
Often, yes. Many women find meaningful relief through pain management and hormonal therapies that reduce or pause the monthly cycle driving the tissue. Surgery is one option when symptoms are severe or fertility is affected, but it isn't always the first step. Care is tailored to you.
Does endometriosis affect fertility?+
It can. Endometriosis is a common cause of difficulty getting pregnant, but many women with it do conceive, sometimes with support. If fertility is a goal, Dr. Luciano will factor that into your plan and coordinate further care when needed.
Is there a cure for endometriosis?+
There isn't a cure, but it is very manageable. With the right combination of treatment and ongoing care, most women can significantly reduce their pain and protect their quality of life and fertility.
Why does it take so long to get diagnosed?+
Endometriosis symptoms are often normalized, by patients and providers alike, which is why the average diagnosis takes years. Sparrow exists in part to change that, by giving you the time and attention to be heard and properly evaluated.
